Workshop of US in Emergency Medicine<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

With the advent of the new curriculum of RCEM, Point of Care Ultrasound training and assessment will devolve to units to align it with other skills. Integral to this will be that each unit has at least one ultrasound lead.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
This workshop is designed to upskill these future departmental leads and mentor them in the specifics of teaching and assessing ultrasound. It will also cover aspects of developing governance and the new sign off processes.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
There will also be a core competencies course running next year when the trainers will teach on.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The aim of this workshop is to introduce the US scanning in Emergency Medicine in Iraq.This will support the doctors in Emergency Medicine to become competent in Emergency Department Ultrasound in:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Focussed Assessment of the Abdominal Aorta (AAA)<\/div>\n
Focusses Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (FAST)<\/div>\n
Focused Echocardiography in Life Support (ELS)<\/div>\n
Ultrasound Guided Vascular Access (VA).<\/div>\n
RUSH<\/div>\n
The workshop will support our colleagues to develop core knowledge to underpin their competency and preparation for practice in Level 1 Ultrasound and by the end of this workshop programme EM physicians will be able to:<\/div>\n
. Recognise and differentiate normal anatomy and pathology<\/div>\n
. Diagnose common abnormalities within certain organ systems<\/div>\n
. Recognise when a referral for a second opinion is indicated<\/div>\n
. Understand the relationship between ultrasound imaging and other diagnostic imaging techniques.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
This workshop will be followed by series of level 1 US courses to enrich the doctors capabilities to use the ultrasound machines while in Emergency Department to help them in managing many patients with different varieties of presentations.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
After a period of sustained and supervised practice in the Emergency Department (3 \u2013 6 months) candidates will be able to perform common examinations safely and accurately in ED.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The workshop booklet will be given to the interested candidates who are going to practice the hand-on US on human body to see the normal findings.<\/div>\n
The participants will be given Certificate of Attendance.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
