مواليد البصرة ١٩٥٤
خريجة طب البصرة (١٩٧٧- السادسة على الدورة). اختارت أ د هدى الجانب الاكاديمي بدل السريري حيث عملت كمعيدة في طب البصرة لعدة اشهر ثم انتقلت الى طب بغداد في بداية ١٩٧٨ لتكمل مسيرتها في التدريس و حصلت على الماجستير و الدكتوراه و تدرجت بالمراتب العلمية لتحصل على لقب الاستاذية في ٢٠٠١
اشرفت د هدى و ناقشت العديد من طلبة الدراسات العليا في كليات الطب و طب الاسنان و العلوم
انجزت أ د هدى ٥٧ بحثا تضمن الكثير منها بحوث تعنى بالاعشاب الطبية و تاثيرها على انسجة الجسم و نالت براءة اختراع (عدد ٢) بهذا الخصوص
فازت د هدى مرتين في “رعاية الملاكات العلمية و العلماء” في ٢٠٠٠ و ٢٠٠١
و في عام ٢٠١١ بدأت د هدى بمرحلة ثانية في مسيرتها الاكاديمية (اضافة لاستمرارها بالتدريس و الاشراف ) وهي ادارة و تطوير منهاج كلية طب بغداد بعد مشاركتها في ما يقارب من ٣٠ ورشة عمل داخل و خارج القطر ( انكلترا- نوتنجهام ٢.١١ و امريكا- كارولينا الشمالية ٢٠١٤ و اسطنبول باشراف كلية طب شفيلد ٢٠١٣ و داخل العراق باشراف اساتذة من جامعة نوتنجهام و شفيلد و لستر و كارولينا الشمالية) و تضمنت هذه الورشات مفاهيم التعليم الطبي الحديثة و كيفية تصميم المناهج و الكورسات و قد تكللت هذه الجهود بتغيير منهاج كلية طب بغداد استنادا لاحدث المناهج الطبية في انكلترى و امريكا
بعدها شاركت د هدى كمحاضر في ورشات و مؤتمرات حول المفاهيم الحديثة في التعليم الطبي و كيفية تطوير المناهج و تصميم الكورسات و لا تزال مستمرة بالمشاركة حتى بعد احالتها على التقاعد في ٢٠٢٢/١٢/٢٣ و بعد ٤٥ سنة خدمة في التعليم.

- Faculty member in the College of Medicine/University of Baghdad (January, 1978 – December,2022)
The main achievements, during this period, are:
- Teaching human histology (large and small group and practical sessions teaching and “Integrated Learning Activity” and “Team-Based Learning” facilitation) to students of College of Medicine (1978 – 2022), College of Pharmacy (2000-2012), College of Dentistry (1979-1991), College of nursing (1984-1996), College of Medicine / University of Basrah (August, 1977 –December, 1977).
- Mentoring medical students
- Supervision of eleven PhD and five MSc post graduate students (1999 – 2022)
- Fifty two published papers (1981 – 2022)
- Two National Patents: (in 2002 and in 2001)
- Translation of a book “A Doctor Discuss Pregnancy” from English to the Arabic language (1999)
- Composition of a Reference book “Anatomy” in Arabic Language for the Medical staff Institute – published in 1999
- Conferences– outside Iraq (Istanbul, 2022, Austeria, 2016; AUE, 2016; Iran, 2013; AUE, 2013; Argentina, 2012 and Jordan, 2011) ,in addition to those inside Iraq
- Head of Histology Section / Dept. of Anatomy / College of Medicine / University of Baghdad (2000 – 2022) – leading 5 – 6 faculty member and 4 – 5 additional staffer of the Histology Section for the last 23 years. During these years I was fully responsible for running of the Human Histology lectures for the first and second year in the College of Medicine / University of Baghdad .

- Member of the Steering Committee of Medical College Accreditation (2014 – 2022) – the committee is headed by the Dean of the college. This committee is responsible for preparation of the annual ‘Self-Assessment Study’ (SAS) of the College of Medicine / University of Baghdad. We awarded an accreditation in 2023.
- Head of Quality Assurance and Academic Performance Unit / College of Medicine / University of Baghdad (2010 – 2017) – Together with two staffers, I was responsible for checking the ‘Academic Files’ of each faculty member in the College of Medicine annually. Moreover, I was personally responsible for composing the ‘Annual College Performance File’. According to this file, our college was ranked the second best in 2011 and the first in 2012 among all Iraqi medical colleges.
- Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (2012 – 2015) – heading a committee of 9 faculty members. Our duty was to visit lectures, clinical sessions and practical sessions and assess the lecturers using corresponding check lists.
- Member in the Exam Quality Control Committee (2018- 2022) – this committee was responsible for ensuring a reliability and validity of the question papers that fulfill the requirement of blue printing and good construction. In addition, it was responsible for the analysis and study of the feedback of the students outcome every year.
- Registrar /College of Medicine / University of Baghdad (2003 – 2005) –
I was assigned as a registrar in 2003, just after Saddam era, where certificates were banded. I faced a very difficult situation, because graduates of 35 years (1969 – 2003) submit for certificates. I put a plan that was approved by the Dean of the College to finish this task within less than two years and I succeeded in that.
In addition, I was responsible for registration of the students annually in the college, recording their marks, progress and issuing of their graduation certificates. Moreover, I was responsible for the daily students’ attendance registration.
Furthermore, I was responsible for confirmation of the issued certificates.
- Member of “Clearing Committee” (2018 – 2020). This committee was responsible for studying the cases of transferred students, from outside Iraq to the College of Medicine University of Baghdad, and allocate their grades in the college.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS IN MEDICAL EDUCATION
My work in medical education and module designing had been started after an award from the “British Council – Delphi – Iraq Project” to our college faculty members in 2010 and my two weeks visit to the University of Nottingham in April 2011, where we started a comprehensive two weeks workshop .
- WORKSHOPS (WSs) and CONFERENCES : ( 2011 – 2023), I participated in 63 medical education and TOT WSs and Medical Education Conferences and forums – (1 in 2023, 4 Ws in 2022, 5 WS in 2018, 7 WS in 2017, 7 WSs in 2016, 5 in 2015, 6 in 2014, 11 in 2013, 13 in 2012 and 4 in 2011). I attended 29 of them and participated as a speaker in the remaining 34. Eight of the WSs were facilitated by Professor Nigel Baxs (Emeritus Professor University of Sheffield-UK) and Professor Deborah Bax (Emeritus Professor University of Sheffield, UK), two by Professor Rig Denik ( Head of Medical Education, Nottingham University, UK) and one by Professor Farouk Shakib (Emeritus professor of experimental allergy and associate pro-vice-chancellor, University of Nottingham), two by Professor Mohammed Al-Uzri ( Consultant psychiatrist and associate medical director, Leicester University, UK), Professor Mohammed Jumaa (Leicester University, UK) and Dr Miaad Al-Attar (Leicester University Hospital- facilitator), two by Professor Sahar H. Abdul-Rasool (University of Western Cape- Cape town -South Africa), one by Professor Cam Enarson (University of North Carolina, USA), one by Professor Ghanim Al-Shaikh (WHO expert), one by Professor Mohammed Al-Rubaie (University of Dundee, UK and UNESCO expert) and one by Dr Thikra Al-Wattar (Consultant in Yeovil District hospital).

DUTIES IN THE MEDICAL EDUCATION UNIT (College of Medicine / University of Baghdad)
- Member in the Steering Curriculum Committee (2012 – 2022). This committee was responsible for finalization and approval of the structure and implementation of the System-Based Integrated Curriculum modules, follow up the implementation and get feedbacks (from students,faculty members, consultant physician and stakeholders) and adjust accordingly.
- Head of the Preclinical Committee (2011-2012) – the committee that was responsible for designing of the System-based Integrated Curriculum modules of the first three years and inserting themes (like communication skills, medical ethics, clinical skills and student selected components) within them.
- I designed and constructed the time table of year four (2015), Year two (2014) and year one (2013)
- I designated and wrote Phase-I handbook (2016), the year two workbook (2014) and HDTD module workbook (2013)
- I was responsible for the implementation of the new curriculum from the academic year (2013-2014) – (2021-2022); working as.

- Medical College Reviving Team (MCRT) Team – (2011) – a team composed of 15 medical students and 5 tutors in the College of Medicine / University of Baghdad. This team was responsible for surveying the subject-based system draw backs and how to overcome them. The outcome of the team work was a corner stone in developing the curriculum from Subject-Based to System based Integrated Curriculum.
